A Very Enjoyable Evening
On Saturday 24th June we held our In House concert…… who says we British don’t know how to enjoy ourselves?
There were numerous treats in store, with readings and poems from some, while others sang or played a variety of musical instruments, and then there was the band and the choir. With contributions from both Maidenhead and Marlow’s congregation we had a full programme. The age range of those taking part was 7 to 70 plus - the youngest a Beaver and a Cub…. but I’ll not embarrass anyone by mentioning the oldest. Everyone’s contribution was very well received. It’s really quite amazing the wealth of talent we have in our midst. And isn’t it interesting what you find out at events such as this - did you know our minister could play the clarinet?
Here are some more facts and figures for those who like that sort of thing. As I’ve already mentioned, the age range of participants spans over 60 years, more than 30 people took part in the 24 acts to an audience of over 50….. and we raised £450 to send to the British Red Cross appeal for the Grenfell Tower fire disaster.
So I would like to say a big thank you to everyone who supported the evening in any way with special thanks to Elaine for compiling a list of acts while I was on holiday, Lyn for working the sound system and Beth for preparing the interval refreshments. A selection of photographs of the evening is included elsewhere, as is the poem read by the Beaver and Cub. Please let me know if you would like a copy of any of the pictures.
