Youth & Family

2012 is upon us and things have already really got going this year. We started off with our trip to the see Aladdin in Panto at the Hexagon and this was enjoyed by all who came aged 4 and up, I was even told by one person that it was their social highlight of the year so far and another announced that it was the best day out ever and they were coming again next year.

Groups have all started up again with Drop-In seeing a good start to the New Year, let us pray that this continues and that we see some more growth. Table Tennis has a good regular attendance and we have at times had nine lads appear. Friday nights have seen the odd new face at Tek & Impact and a couple of the band who came along for the Nativity service have decided to join us regularly. So let us pray that this continues and that we can keep growing as a Church with these children and young people. Also, a big thank you to all who have been involved in some way in the support of these groups over the last year.

A small appeal as mentioned at Church meeting, Maggie will not be around to help at Drop-in on 6th March and it would be wonderful if someone could come and help out that Tuesday. It would be from 3pm to help set up till shortly after 5 to help pack away and otherwise its just playing and chatting with children and adults. If you are able and would like to come and see what’s involved then please do come down one week and join in the fun.

Finally that just leaves me to mention the Junior Church party which took place on 21st January. It was well attended with 35 children and young people, with familiar faces from Junior Church, Table Tennis and Friday nights and some that we hadn’t seen for a while from holiday clubs, a few little people from Drop-In also joined for tea and pass the parcel. The tea as always went down well. Many thanks to those in the kitchen, and in the hall there was much noise as we bashed balloons about, had a snowball fight and tried to get maltesers out of cream using only our mouths. Later we enjoyed a film with the young people which was a wonderful chance for us leaders to have a sit down. Thank you to all who were involved in helping the day run we couldn’t have done it without you.
