A Night of Soul Featuring Steve VKing
( of the Drifters).
It has long been our policy to let the church building out to people who wish to hold concerts, and Saturday nights concert featuring Steve V King who was lead singer with the Drifters in the 70s was just amazing.
Hosted by the Maidenhead Community Choir led by Tina Reibl we were presented with songs from the choir who had been focusing on the Drifters music and then by Steve who entertained us with many of the big hits that he had been involved with. The entire evening was spectacular and the singers were supported by a "pickup" band who had only met 5 minutes before the show. A tribute to their expertise.
Prior to the show Steve ran a master class and rehearsed the song "Under the boardwalk" with the choir and some visitors who happily joined in. The result was an amazing rendition of the song with harmonies and choreography .
finally the choir and Steve sang what Tina called a "mashup" of two songs joined together "Love train and Put a little love in your heart".
This concert was well advertised in the Maidenhead Advertiser, on Radio, and also on the Link notice board. If you missed it, well you missed something special.
If you would like to hold your own event at the church we would be delighted to hear from you. Contact us on 0791 785 8876 or firstname.lastname@example.org
