2 SALT
After a two-month break, we are eagerly looking forward to meeting on Wednesday mornings again… and you are invited to join us on 15th September. Our plan is to use a guide entitled ‘Confident Christianity’ and this is based on Paul’s letter to the Colossians. No! This is not just for ‘confident’ Christians. It is for ordinary folk in the church and we hope to gain confidence by ‘Sharing And Learning Together’. Come and join us.
As stated in the last magazine, we finished our summer sessions with a variety of activities. One week we read the book of Jonah and answered questions. Yes! Most people know the story of Jonah, but do they actually read the Bible? Another week we recalled the story of the call of Abram and Sarai, who became Abraham and Sarah – and discovered many facts that surprised most of us. (See quiz at end)
We also spent two weeks: first, looking at the early years of Samuel (in the Old Testament) and then, thinking about the parables Jesus told. (Which is the first that comes to your mind?) Most time was spent considering the two which show that those who expect salvation must be prepared to give up all for the kingdom of heaven. (See Matthew 13:44,45)
Here is the Quiz:
How old was Abram when God called him to leave ‘home’?
How many wives did Abraham have?
How many children did Abraham have?
How many children did Hannah have?
Answers, please, to
David Finch
Anagram Competition
My thanks to everyone who helped to sell and participate in the above competition - we made £40.00 for Friendship Group funds and had 9 completed forms returned. The sheets were put in a box and drawn by Maria Davies when we had the evening at The Campbell's on 21 July. The winner was Pat Blacker (a friend of Brenda Gibbon's) and she received a 2011 illustrated calendar of Dorset.
